May 14 – Meeting Notes

Eastwatch Archery Guild meeting was conducted tonight and the question was asked if anyone was interested in taking on the position of Archery Guild President and by unanimous vote, Lord Merlin retains the position as Archery Guild President.
Bids for the upcoming Harvest Festival & Games must be submitted to Lord Merlin NO LATER than June 11, 2012. Tentative dates for the event are either: September 14th thru the 16th or October 19th thru the 21st.
Party in the Park will be held July 12th thru the 14th, if you have any scrolls you wish to display, projects you have completed, projects you are currently working on, or would like to come and help during the demo please contact Lord Merlin.
We are looking for volunteers to conduct classes for the purpose of creating Pennons, Banners, Belt Favors (personal and Shire)…If you would like to help with endeavor please contact Lord Merlin or Lady Feodosia.
We are putting together a committee to consider the redesign of the device for the Shire of Eastwatch. If you have any suggestions, please submit drawings to Lord Merlin

Meeting minutes for March 12, 2012:

THL Nial of Bork, along with the other members of the newly founded flyer committee are working hard at putting together a new flyer for the Shire of Eastwatch to be passed out at Demo’s and events. If you are interested in helping, please contact THL Nial of Bork.
Lord Uilliam (Lliam) MacInoss along with Lady Meriel of Winterbourne will be attending the P.I.P. meeting to discuss what is required of us…..details to follow.
The “Game & Dance Revel” went very well, the food was very excellent, the entertainment was awesome, Thank you again to “Crystal Ball” for performing.
Thank you to Their Excellencies for attending this, their last G&D Revel as the current Baron and Baroness of the Cleftlands, we look forward to seeing you again, good luck with your future plans in the SCA.
Our Chatelaine, who was also the Autocrat for the event was called into Baronial court and granted the right to use “Lady” before her name, she is now and until further notice to be known as Lady Seonaid inghean Ghriogair……HOOBAH Lady Seonaid!
Lord Uilliam (Lliam) MacInoss was also called into Baronial court and it was bestowed upon him the award of St. Alfred for his service as a Court Herald and for his support during events. So granted by Edward and Milesent, Third Baron and Baroness of the Cleftlands…….Lord Uilliam MacInoss……HOOBAH!
Starting Sunday, April 1st and going until otherwise noted, volunteers are needed to help clear away the underbrush and downed trees at Free Spirit Farm located in Novelty Ohio tomake ready for the “Summer Challenge”….trees that you remove or are felled are free for the taking, log splitting is available.
If you,or anyone you know would be interested in teaching a class please contact His Lordship Merlin to see about scheduling.
If you have any ideas for site tokens or awards to be given at the “Summer Challenge” please submit your ideas off list to His Lordship Merlin.
The Shire is looking into setting up some Rapier classes now that the weather is getting warmer…..details to follow.

The Geauga County Maple Festival is being held April 26th thru April 29th….We are waiting to hear back from them in regards to whether or not they would like us to set up a Demo. If there is enough interest, we will participate in the parade as well…please remember that to be eligible for parade prizes, we must be in both parades (Saturday and Sunday)

Meeting minutes for January 30, 2012:

Upcoming Meeting Schedule: February 13th, February 27th, and March 12th
Upcoming Local Events: 2/18/12 – Masque of Courtly Love, 3/10/12 – Eastwatch Winter Dance & Gaming Revel
Lady Ellen will be teaching her Belt Making Class at the 2/13 meeting. She asks for a $3.00-$5.00 donation for materials from each participant.
Uthr will be teaching a Chain Mail Class at the 2/27 meeting.
Merlin will be teaching his Flemish Bow String class at the 2/27 meeting. Bring your bow. The class fee is $5.00.
There will be an Officers Meeting on 2/27.
Letters of Interest are currently being accepted for the Officer positions of Chronicler, Youth Minister, and Heavy/Armored Combat Marshall. Lassarina will be stepping down as Chronicler by the end of February.
Bids are currently being accepted for the Eastwatch Summer Challenge (previously known as the Eastwatch Spring Challenge) event to be held June 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. Please submit your bids by the end of February.
We are considering holding AOF in Novelty, OH either the end of September/first part of October. Bids for AOF can be submitted until May 1st.
We may have an opportunity to put on a Boy Scout Demo in Solon the week of July 9th. It would be for 3 days and about 1-2 hours per day.
A committee has been formed to work on new Brochures/flyers for the group.

Meeting minutes for January 23, 2012:

Upcoming Meeting Schedule: January 30th – Dessert Revel, February 13th, February 27th

We will have a Dessert Revel next week on January 30th. Since January has 5 Mondays, those present at meeting on January 23rd voted to meet next week.

There is a possibility that we can participate in the Chardon Maple Festival Parade as we did 2 years ago. Some members may be able to ride a horse from Free Spirit Farm (under your own steam if you visit the stables prior to the parade to prove your proficiency-there is a charge to take the proficiency evaluation). If you cannot ride, you may be able to ride a horse that is being led by someone from the stables.
There will be indoor archery practice on Sunday, January 29th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Free Spirit Farm. The farm is located at 13987 Watt Road in Novelty, Ohio. There is a $5.00 per hour/per person charge. Loaner equipment will be available at the site. We will be shooting Royal Rounds, the Winter Challenge, and offering instructions in proper form and aiming techniques. Please advise Merlin if you plan to attend.
