• Letters of Interest are currently being accepted for the Officer positions of Chronicler and Youth Minister.  Lassarina will be stepping down as Chronicler by the end of February.  The position of Youth Minister is currently vacant.
• Bids are currently being accepted for the Eastwatch Challenge to be held in June.  Due to a calendar conflict with another local event, the preferred date for the Eastwatch Challenge is now the weekend of June 2nd.
• Merlin is looking for feedback on what type of classes people would like to take or any they would be interested in teaching.  He may be able to arrange for instructors from other groups to come in and teach a class if there would be enough interest.
• Merlin will be teaching a class on how to make a Flemish Bow String at our January 23rd meeting.  Please bring your bow.  There will be a $5.00 materials fee.
• here may be a period cooking class offered at meetings if there is enough interest.  You would learn how to prepare and cook one period dish per class.
• Merlin would like the group to start putting on more demos.  There could be opportunities to set up a demo area/table at local community events/festivals.  Please advise Merlin or the Demo Cooridinator of any possible opportunities.
• The group will be looking to update our information flyers so that we can pass them out at demos and other appropriate venues.
• There may be an Equestrian program for Archery starting up at Free Spirit Farms in Novelty, OH.  Please see Merlin for details.

• The Eastwatch Signal Fire – Volume 2, Issue 3 (Fall/Winter 2011)

• The Yule Revel will be held at our next meeting, December 12, 2011, at the VFW Hall. Please wear garb, bring a dish to share, and don’t forget your gift if you signed up for the gift exchange. Also, please bring any non-perishable food items you wish to donate to the VFW for their food drive.
• Letters of Interest are currently being accepted for the Officer positions of Exchequer and Youth Minister. Dorothea will be stepping down as Exchequer on January 31st, 2012, and would like to begin training someone in advance. The position of Youth Minister is currently vacant.
• Bids are currently being accepted for the Spring Challenge to be held in May.
• The preferred date for the Spring Challenge is currently the weekend of May 11th – 13th, mainly due to the Middle Kingdom events of Coronation on May 5th, Crown Tournament on May 26th – 27th, and the Kingdom of AEthelmearc event AEthelmearc War Practice from May 17th – 20th.
• Merlin is looking for feedback on what type of classes people would like to take or any they would be interested in teaching. He may be able to arrange for instructors from other groups to come in and teach a class if there would be enough interest.
• Merlin is holding bow making classes at his home most weekday evenings, and every other Monday. You will purchase the stave for the bow and will need to purchase some tools. Please contact Merlin for details.
• The Charter has been sent to Kingdom. If all goes well we should have a ratified Charter in place soon.
• Upcoming Meeting Schedule: Dec 12 – Yule Revel, Dec 26 – No Meeting, January 9 – Meeting, and January 28 – Meeting. (The calendar has been updated to reflect these dates.)

I am looking for submissions for inclusion into the next issue of our newsletter. Please send in your submissions by October 14th. I am looking for articles, recipes, editorials, original artwork or photos, stories, poems, reviews of SCA related books, music, museum/field trips, event notices, reviews of events or classes you may have attended, etc.

If you have anything you would like to submit you may give it to me a meeting or email it to lyssindra@yahoo.com. If you can’t catch me at a meeting and cannot email your submission, please contact me offlist for my mailing address.

• Merlin would like Eastwatch to hold a combination Archery/Heavy/Rapier/Dance challenge event in May.  The date he was thinking of is the weekend of May 11th-13th, 2012. May is a busy month for events and this looks like one of the best weekends to aim for. If you have any suggestions regarding the date of the event or for submitting a bid, please direct them to Merlin atwhgkingstone@ameritech.net. Bids should be submitted by the end of December.
• We are planning to have another Winter Dance and Game Revel this March. The tentative date is March 10th. Please submit your bids asap if you are interested in autocrating this event.
• We are in search of a new Exchequer for the group. Dorothea will be stepping down January 31st, 2012, and would like to begin training someone in advance. Please submit your resumes or letters of interest to Merlin.
• The revised Charter is up in our files section. It can be found within the Charters file. Please direct any comments or concerns to Merlin at whgkingstone@ameritech.net.
