  • The Grand Archery Tournament which was slated to happen in August has been postponed until 2014.
  • Heavy Armor combat classes will resume on June 10th, 2013.
  • There will be a “Mounted Archery Demo” at Lake Metro Parks, Farm Park located at 8800 Chardon Road, Kirtland Ohio 44094. The Farm Park opens at 9:00am and closes at 5:00pm
    • Saturday and Sunday, May 18th & 19th
    • Saturday’s Demo is scheduled for 1:35pm
    • Sunday’s Demo is scheduled for 3:35pm
  • There will be Archery practice this Sunday, May 19th at Free Spirit Farm from 5:30 to 8:00pm
  • The Northern Oaken Regional Archery Tournament will be held this year during N.O.W.M. (Northern Oaken War Maneuvers) June 7th, 8th, & 9th, 2013. The winner of the tournament will receive and automatic position on the Pennsic 42 Champions Team. For further information go to http://cleftlands.org/events/nowm/2013/faq/
  • Scheduling for summer classes has begun, if you are interested in attending a class or teaching a class please contact Perrin de Sable (Patrick Armetta) at (440)637-4327 or THL Merlin (Gary Kingston) at whgkingstone@ameritech.net.
  • Silk Painting projects will continue until all projects are completed so if you have not yet started one, you have the opportunity to come and try your hand at Silk Painting.
  • The Basic Illumination class will be rescheduled, date and time will be posted as soon as it is available.
  • The Psanky Egg decorating class will be held on June 10th, class fee of $4.00 (covers the cost of printing the handouts and the Kitskas which you can take home after the class)
  • Week night Archery practice will begin Tuesday, June 4th from 5:30 to 8:00pm at Free Spirit Farm and will continue every Tuesday night until further notice (weather permitting) Sunday practices will continue as usual.
  • No meeting on May 27th, 2013 – Memorial Day

  • June 7-9 at NOWM will be the Northern Oaken Regional Archery Championship. Winner of the Championship will have a spot on the Pennsic 42 Champions team.
  • Bids for the Grand Archery Tournament must be turned in on/by May 13th.
  • The next meeting on May 13th, there is a basic illumination class held by Lady Lassarina and Lord Perrin.
  • There might also be Heavy Fighting on May 13th.
  • The Silk Painting class given by Lady Seonaid has been extended to allow those who are working on projects to finish them and for those who were not able to attend the first class to start a project. If you wish to start a project bring a black and white line drawing of something you wish to use, no larger than 8″ in circumference. Try to limit the amount of fine detail as it may be lost during the application of the resist.

  • The Shire will be accepting bids for the “Grand Archery Tournament.” Please have you bids submitted to Lord Merlin by April 22, 2013.
  • There will be an Officers meeting April 22, 2013
  • There will be a “Silk Painting” class being given by Lady Seonaid.
  • May 13, 2013 there will be an “Introduction to Illumination” given by Lady Lassaraina and Lord Perrin.
  • Brendokenfest is being held April 30, 2013 in Dalton Ohio.  Feast will be a Pot-Luck.
  • June 10 will be the rescheduled Pysanka Egg class given by Lady Seonaid. Class limit of 10, class fee $5 covers the cost of the tools which you can take home with you after the class.
  • Please keep August 16th available as we along with our wonderful neighbors from the Barony of the Cleftlands will be putting on a Demo at the Lake County Captains Stadium during the game being held that same date. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase A&S projects that are finished along with those being worked on. Her Grace Runa has requested that if you display an A&S project, please have a sample of the same technique available to work on during the demo so the public can actually see the Artisans at work. There will also be Heavy Weapons and Rapier demonstrations as well.

    • As more information is made available, it will be posted as quickly as possible to better inform you of any changes.

    There will be fighting practice starting back up at meetings, dates and times will be posted as soon as they are known.

    We have been asked about putting on a Demo at an upcoming Lake County Captains game, when further details have been worked out more information will be posted.

    The Game and Dance Revel will be on March 9, 2013. It is pre-registration only. Please see the event website for event and feast prices.

    I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the meeting on Monday, November 12th. We have many things to discuss. The following is some of the topics:

    1. Finalizing the Grand Archery Tournament documents and reports.
    2. Selling the “Bow Raffle Tickets” will continue until the December 10th Yule Revel when we will draw for the winner. We are in need of people to help sell the ticket. Please contact me if you are willing to give us a hand.
    3. We really need to get the New Eastwatch Flyers finalized and printed, so that they can be distributed to get new people interested in joining the SCA, and particular;y, the Shire of Eastwatch.
    4. We need to learn the status of the New Shire Device. Where does it stand in the process of getting selected, submitted, and approved?
    5. Even though the New Shire Device has not been formalized, we are still looking for volunteers to set up a class to make Pennons, Banners, and Belt Favors. Please contact me or Lady Feodosia if you can help with this project.
    6. Bids for the Game & Dance Revel must be submitted by no later than Monday, November 12th. Please bring your bids to the meeting, ot email them directly to me at whgkingstone[at]ameritech[dot]net.
    7. Here is a question that I would like for all of you to think about and give me your comments, suggestions, or ideas at the meeting: “What direction do you want this Shire to proceed in the process of rebuilding and becoming more active within the SCA Community?”
